Dr. Ben Hanson
Dr Ben Hanson is the dynamic CEO and CIO of Rivers International Management Services with clients throughout Australia, MENA region, UK and Asia who benefit from his authenticity and integrity, thought leadership, superb communication skills with clarity, candor and empathy, and superior skills and success at executing and completing projects and change management.
He has direct experience in strategic planning, large-scale healthcare, energy and ICT start-up projects to implementation and operations, large scale healthcare digital transformation, EMR design and integration, interoperability, health informatics, P&L management, best practice policies and guidelines, accreditation, hiring, leading and managing teams, marketing and business development, dealings with governments, insurers and investors, and many other skills consistent with board and c-suite positions internationally.
Significant contracts and projects in this role include as the Founding Senior Vice President of Clinical Alliance at the Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (MALAFFI), a PPP of Department of Health and Injazat Data Systems (Mubadala). This initiative is the foundation of digital transformation and value-based healthcare in Abu Dhabi, with an Emirate-wide Health Information Exchange connecting all healthcare providers and patients as the core, and digital health platform including AI and ML powered analytics for advanced public and population health initiatives and chronic disease management. In 2016 he was the Founding Medical Director for Meraas Healthcare, a private holding company of the Ruler of Dubai and Vice President of UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.
He is a Certified International Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executive (CHIME). He is a Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Digital Health (FAIDH). He is an A/Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Services Management and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Director. He has AI and ML qualifications from Oxford University and MIT. He is a Certified ScrumMaster and familiar working with an Agile methodology.
He is a licensed Physician in Australia and Dubai, with over 26 years direct clinical experience in high quality clinical care of patients. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine UK and a Fellow of the RACGP, and a member of the Healthcare Advisory Council for the Australian Consulate in Dubai.
